摘要

Left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) for mechanical circulatory support (MCS) has proven to be a suitable alternative to heart transplantation for patients as a bridge to transplantation (BTT) or destination therapy (DT) in patients who are not candidates for transplantation. Specific and nonspecific infections related to these devices have serious implications on the function of the device, mortality rates of the patients, and future prognosis following further treatment. Numerous risk factors, such as age, obesity, nutrition profile, and comorbidities, play a role in predicting these infections.
