摘要

Forensically, sweat is an underrated body fluid, however, its role as an alternative matrix for drugs and its metabolite detection has grown in recent years. Sweat analysis can be integral in roadside drug testing, workplace drug testing, and other situations including document impairment such as signature under drug influence, consumption of date rape drugs, and psychiatric disorders. Forensic examination of sweat can also determine cause of death in toxicological cases. It can be directly collected from the person, or it can be found as stains on clothes, wristbands, headbands, and towels. In the latter case, it is pertinent to first identify the stain as sweat which is followed by further examination for drugs and its metabolites. Sweat also contains biomarkers for various diseases such as cystic fibrosis. These biomarkers can be used to detect diseases at early stages and can show the underlying cause of death. The revolutionary impact of integrating wearable technology can be seen in sweat analysis. Sweat sensors, which are integrated into various devices such as smartwatches and fitness trackers, can constantly monitor and analyze sweat in real time. By using these devices, individuals can monitor their hydration levels, maintain a balanced electrolyte level, and even receive notifications for potential health concerns.
