Introduction

One of the successes of modern physics is the methodology it uses to develop quantitative theories from phenomena. These theories combine predictive and explanatory power. Its predictive power enables technological progress, but also provides a justification for the scientific worldview given by a specific picture of reality. In this way, our best and most successful theories provide the framework for the dominant worldview of physics and philosophy. Indeed, philosophy and physics are deeply related to each other. Physics is a methodologically constrained continuation of philosophy of nature, a specific branch in the broader enterprise of science. Philosophy advocates for unrestricted freedom in methodological choices, while physics is methodologically defined by philosophy of science. The progress in philosophy and the progress in physics are strongly entangled; both fields inspire each other and move forward together.
