Stroke and Its Imaging Evaluation
摘要
Stroke, defined as the sudden onset of persistent neurologic deficit, is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in the USA. It is the fourth leading cause of death. Ischemic infarction is by far the most common etiology comprising 88% of stroke. Intracranial hemorrhage makes up an additional 10%–15%, with less common etiologies accounting for the remainder. Mortality rates vary with etiology, with a 38% and 8%–12% 30-day mortality seen in hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, respectively.
