Empirical Findings

This chapter focuses on the research results and their interpretation. The outcomes of the analysis of Nigerian SSS students’ responses to survey questions on human rights issues and the hypothesized relationship between the explanatory factors and students’ human rights attitudes are presented. For this reason, there are a whole series of tables in this section. The first eight tables of the chapter contain the results of the descriptive analysis. These are results of the students’ evaluation of the survey questions or statements on the selected human rights issues. The results are not only reported here, but also interpreted in the light of the theoretical perspectives. The first set of tables is followed by another set of eight tables with the results of the analysis of variance. This group of tables shows whether and to what extent there are significant differences in students’ human rights attitudes based on their religious affiliation. The results of the correlation analysis then follow. The latter is contained in a table and simply shows the relationships between the explanatory factors and human rights attitudes. The tables with the results of the correlation analyses between the independent variables themselves and the correlations between the control and dependent variables can be found in the appendix. Finally, the eight regression models are also contained in a table. The models report on the predictors of students’ human rights attitudes. At this point, after presenting these results, the chapter ends with the confirmation or rejection of the research hypotheses based on the general research results. In all cases, the order of presentation of the analyses corresponds to the order of the research questions.
