摘要

Increasing the use of simulation for the care of older adults has been paralleled by an upsurge in research but the field is still young. This chapter can serve as a starting point for those interested in becoming involved in research as it relates to simulation for care of older adults. First we explore when to say “no” to conducting research and what to consider when saying “yes”. We outline the importance of research paradigms and reflect on where the greatest contributions for those interested in research in the field might lie. In doing so, while drawing on existing literature, we outline differences and opportunities for research that is (1) research about simulation for the care of older adults or (2) clinical or health service research about care of older adults using simulation as a tool or test bed. Finally, we reflect on other forms of scholarship that are useful for those interested in an academic approach to their work.
