摘要

Pancreatic cancer is a highly aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. It is the seventh leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with a higher incidence in developed countries. Risk factors include smoking, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, and genetic predispositions. Symptoms often appear late in the disease course, including jaundice, weight loss, and abdominal pain. The majority of pancreatic cancers are adenocarcinomas, originating from the exocrine portion of the pancreas. Surgical resection offers the only potential cure, but only a small percentage of patients are eligible for surgery at diagnosis. Treatment options for advanced disease include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and palliative care to manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Research continues to explore new therapeutic approaches, including targeted therapies and immunotherapy.
