Grounding Academic Integrity Education in Positive and Proactive Pedagogy
摘要
In today’s educational landscape, academic integrity is increasingly challenged by the evolving pressures and expectations that both educators and students face. Instructional faculty members find it daunting to address these issues comprehensively while still covering their course content and students often feel unsupported and uncertain about what constitutes academic dishonesty. To foster a culture of academic integrity, institutions need to prioritize collaborative efforts to define and teach explicit norms to students, providing time and funding to academic integrity champions within the institution. While some institutions have dedicated Academic Integrity offices to do this work, many do not. In the absence of such offices, libraries could act as a central hub within institutions to optimize resources and ensure students receive consistent academic integrity education. Academic librarians, with their experience in both instructing students and supporting faculty, can take on a leadership role in academic integrity education and advocacy, looking to evidence-based pedagogical strategies already in use.
