Conclusion: Inconclusive Thoughts on an Uncertain Future
摘要
This “inconclusion” synthesizes the key themes explored throughout the book’s chapters on academic libraries and their role in academic integrity. It emphasizes the diverse levels of library participation which are possible, from traditional sessions for students to staff development and collaboration with external stakeholders. The neutrality of academic libraries, the concept of blended librarianship, and the implications of faculty status on librarians engaging in academic integrity work are considered. The intersection of information literacy and academic integrity and the ethical considerations surrounding genAI in academic settings are also highlighted. Future research directions include exploring effective strategies for optimizing limited instructional time, scrutinizing the ethical implications of genAI, and assessing the long-term impact of academic libraries on fostering a culture of integrity. Additionally, the chapter proposes multifaceted metrics for measuring success in academic integrity, emphasizing the need for consistent ways to evaluate the complex and evolving nature of this critical area within higher education institutions.
