摘要

In emerging nations, local government authorities are extremely worried about how to handle the growing problems associated with disposing of solid garbage. The majority of Indian towns continue to dispose of solid waste in an improper manner, which has serious impact on the human health and environment. In this study, analytic hierarchy processes (AHP) and geographic information system (GIS) tools have been used for multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA) in solid waste management. The goal of the current study is to find possible sanitary landfill locations for the disposal of solid waste in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, by integrating GIS and AHP. Five possible landfill locations were identified for the disposal of municipal solid waste (MSW) in the study area. In accordance with the amount of MSW generated in each landfill zone, this research also suggests appropriate processing and treatment facilities for recovery, recycling and reuse. Researchers, town planners and government officials will benefit from this study’s identification of the best locations for scientific landfills, which will preserve waste management sustainability and safeguard the public’s health from air pollution, water contamination, offensive odours and toxic gases released during the burning of waste.
