An Investigation into the Influence of ChatGPT on Engineering Science Education: A Comparative Analysis Utilizing the 5E Pedagogical Model
摘要
The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the educational field, providing fresh opportunities for studying mechanical science and technology. ChatGPT, a generative language model, is notable for its instructional potential among the other promising AI technologies. This study investigates the influence of ChatGPT on student learning by comparing two unique groups: DigitalTech, which utilizes conventional electronic resources, and AI-HydroLearn, which leverages ChatGPT and GIF animations. The analysis reveals a positive influence of ChatGPT on students’ learning, particularly in the areas of creativity and innovation. The AI-HydroLearn group outperformed the others, demonstrating significant distinctions in the presentation and innovation categories. These initial findings, however promising, necessitate additional investigation to more accurately determine the lasting effects of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence technologies on student learning in mechanical science and technology. This study establishes a foundation for investigating new connections between artificial intelligence (AI) and education, with the potential to revolutionize teaching methods and enhance the effectiveness of learning.
