Directions and Features of Digital Transformation at Industrial Enterprises

In this work, the authors analyze a current trend in the economic development – digital transformation. A lot of domestic and foreign enterprises, including industrial ones, use digital technologies to reduce costs. But, unfortunately, the introduction of digital technologies in the industrial production is progressing slowly due to the fact that it is influenced by the presence of large production assets and high risks. Based on this, directions and specific features of the application of digital technologies in the activities of industrial enterprises become relevant. The contribution defines a concept of digital transformation and digitalization of industrial enterprises, investigates some problems of digital transformation in the industrial production. The authors identified advantages of digital transformation of industrial enterprises and digitalization directions. It was concluded that the process of digitalization of industrial enterprises in Russia is inferior in technology development to foreign countries. The considered examples of the introduction of digital technologies from the practice of domestic industrial enterprises allowed us to conclude that digitalization contributes to the technological and innovative development of industrial enterprises, improving the quality of manufactured products, as well as reducing costs and increasing competitiveness.
