Over time, additive manufacturing has found a place in almost every sector of industry. This is helped by the fact that it is possible to process an increasing amount of material, especially metals, plastics and composite materials. As with any technology, additive manufacturing includes many advantages and disadvantages, which we are continuously striving to optimize through research and development. In the study, deviations between scanned parts and basic CAD models were evaluated. The individual parts were produced by additive SLM technology, which is a metal-based additive manufacturing technique, and the technology uses the principle of powdered material processing, where deformations occur during the manufacturing process due to the influence of heat on the part. The aim of the present study is the design and implementation of optimization processes based on advanced quality assessment methods using simulations, by scanning models and then comparing the deviations against nominal values of the models. The study identifies individual undesirable phenomena that arise with each technology and seeks to minimize them. These are the deformations produced during the manufacturing process and the deviations from nominal values caused by this.
