Analyzing Material Consumption Within a Global Input-Output Framework from 2011 to 2023: A Comprehensive Evaluation

摘要

Interdisciplinary Analysis of Global Material Consumption and The transition from the Millennium Development Goals to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) has emphasized the importance of using a variety of approaches to achieve development goals. This paper offers a look at material consumption and trade patterns in six countries from 2011 to 2023 focusing on metallic minerals, biomass and fossil fuels. By using the Global Material Flows Database and multi regional input output analysis (MRIOA) this research uncovers valuable insights into how much material’s used the raw materials traded globally and the balance of physical material exchanges. The study sheds light on the nature of material consumption with metallic minerals taking the lead in 2023 as a sign of an increasing global reliance on mineral resources. Biomass and fossil fuels also play roles reflecting trends in energy use and industrial practices. Additionally it delves into trade patterns highlighting differences in trade balances across regions and countries. Overall this interdisciplinary examination enhances our understanding of global resource usage. Emphasizes the importance of development strategies, for reaching the goals set out in the SDG.
