Designing a Smart Lighting System for Illuminating Learning Experiences

The aim of this study is to introduce an educational smart lighting system, offering a practical learning platform for university students across all levels. The proposed system integrates Philips Lighting’s Dynalite solution and Home Assistant platform on an Internet of Things (IoT) platform. Simulation results from DIALux software indicate that daylight harvesting and occupancy control can achieve energy savings of over 70%. Furthermore, the implemented results recommend the use of light-emitting diode (LED) lamps and Home Assistant platform as optimal choices for indoor applications, suggesting their practical deployment.
