New Hybrid Algorithm in Surface Topography Evaluation

摘要

The paper evaluates the possibility of using Fused Deposition Modeling additive technology to produce casting patterns. The study evaluated the effect of the forming process on the variation of surface irregularity distributions. A hybrid model based on power spectral density and one-dimensional discrete wavelet transformation was used as a tool. The study was carried out considering many parameters of the wavelet transform evaluating their influence on the filtering results. The use of both, two algorithms for the evaluation of surface topography together allows in-depth analysis and diagnostics of the surface in terms of the impact of variation on the subsequent properties of products. The analysis showed that there is a relatively small influence of a certain number of cycles of the forming process; however, changes in the magnitude of individual surface irregularities before and after the forming process were noted in the spectra. The research fills a research gap in the field of comprehensive diagnosis and evaluation of profiles and the influence of the forming process on the variation of surface irregularity distributions of additively produced casting patterns.
