Microbiota and Diseases Associated with Metabolic Syndrome

  • Esther Lluch-Bataller

摘要

This chapter explores the intricate relationship between the microbiota and metabolic syndrome, a significant health concern of the twenty-first century. Metabolic syndrome, characterized by metabolic imbalances within the context of chronic inflammation and insulin resistance, presents a complex interplay between various factors. The microbiota emerges as a fundamental influencer of metabolic health. Disruptions in its delicate balance, known as dysbiosis, are closely linked to metabolic disorders, affecting microbial diversity and function. The chapter discusses therapeutic interventions, including probiotics, prebiotics, and fecal transplants, exploring their potential to restore microbial equilibrium and improve metabolic parameters. However, challenges persist regarding response variability and consistency across individuals.
