Dorsum: Osteotomy

摘要

The osseous structure of the nose provides the foundation for both nasal shape and function. Alterations in the shape and orientation of the bony framework may be congenital or acquired secondary to previous trauma or surgery. Osteotomy is the process of making controlled incisions on the bone roof of the nose during rhinoplasty. These controlled incisions enable simultaneous closure of the open roof, which forms after hump removal, and correction of asymmetries in the bone.
