Alar–Columellar Relationship in Rhinoplasty: Relationship Between the Alar Rim and Columellar Border of the Nose
摘要
Asymmetry between the alar rim and the columella border of the nose can constitute an undesirable aesthetic deformity. Nevertheless, it is frequently overlooked by patients and surgeons alike as they tend to assess dorsal nose aesthetics from the side view and nose tip issues from the frontal view. A satisfactory rhinoplastic outcome will not be obtained unless alar–columellar asymmetries are resolved. Therefore, surgeons must have a good understanding of the ideal alar–columellar relationship as well as possible anomalies in this relationship. Greater attention to such details by surgeons will result in more refined rhinoplastic outcomes.
