摘要

Water pollution poses a substantial current challenge, giving us heavy dependence on this vital resource for day-to-day activities. This chapter focuses predominantly on cadmium pollution in water sources, a critical issue impaired by the discharge of cadmium-laden waste from various industries. The insistence on addressing cadmium pollution emphasizes the importance of implementing effective control measures. This chapter explores diverse methods for treating cadmium in wastewater, emphasizing the need for widespread solutions. It provides insights into treatment procedures and mechanisms designed to remove cadmium waste from water sources. Particularly, this chapter advocates for a complete approach incorporating chemical and natural methods. Successful applications of these treatments across various industries have demonstrated their efficacy in reducing cadmium load on water. Crucial aspects of the integration of nanomaterials in cadmium remediation are highlighted in this chapter. Nanomaterials offer a promising way for efficient and targeted removal of cadmium from water. Their unique properties, such as high surface area and reactivity, improve their capability to bind and remove cadmium pollutants. This novel approach complements traditional methods and aligns with the imperative to use sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. In conclusion, this chapter serves as a comprehensive guide to tackling cadmium pollution in water sources. By highlighting a versatile strategy that incorporates both natural and chemical interventions, including the innovative use of nanomaterials, it aims to contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts to preserve the quality of water resources for current and future generations.
