Microbial Transformations of Cadmium: Perspectives for Removal of Cadmium from Soil

  • Sanjana Bhagat

摘要

The trace element cadmium (Cd) is not necessary and is found in large quantities in the environment. The pollution of soils and groundwater caused by human activities is a global issue and can be linked to a wide range of geological and anthropogenic activities, such as mining, the use of fertilizers containing Cd, and atmospheric deposition of combustion emissions. This chapter’s objective was to provide a general review of the concentration of Cd in soil. Therefore, microorganisms have a variety of mechanisms for Cd removal from the soil. Microbial bioremediation is cost-effective and eco-friendly. Finally, we provide a suggestion that microorganisms are used for removing Cd from the soil.
