Managing Intellectual Capital as a Pathway to Improved Performance: Perspectives from Healthcare Organizations
摘要
There is an undeniable link between performance and intellectual capital that raises the potential for improvement. In the context of knowledge-intensive industries such as healthcare, a mix of intangible assets can provide crucial skills for continuous development. A broad stream of research exists on different components of intellectual capital such as: human capital, structural capital and relational capital. The significance of intellectual capital to healthcare management is that it integrates the various components into a wider framework of performance drivers. Through a careful review of extant research, this chapter investigates the evolution of the domain and derives an integrative framework for the prioritization of intellectual capital in healthcare organizations.
