CPEC and the Delivery of Public Goods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In this chapter, the effect of two ongoing CPEC projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province—the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (RSEZ) and the Peshawar–Dera Ismail (D.I.) Khan Motorway—on the lives of the local communities is examined. Being a conflict-affected region with 80% of the population living in rural areas, there are high expectations among the locals about the impact of CPEC changing their lives for the better. The overall focus of CPEC at this point of time is on SDG8 and with little focus on SDG 3 and 4.
