CPEC in Pakistan: The Journey Hitherto

This chapter provides an overview of the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC) since its initiation in 2015 as a landmark development project between China and Pakistan. Major areas of cooperation include energyenergy sector, transportationtransportation infrastructureinfrastructure, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Information Technology (IT), science and technology, agriculture and socio-economic development. The chapter identifies some key challenges faced by this project such as; security concerns, politicization of this project, inflated expectations of common people and the debt burden due to the CPEC energy projects.
