State of the World’s Commercially Seaweeds Genetic Resources for Food and Feeds
摘要
Commercially, seaweeds are primarily cultivated for their use as food and food ingredients. They are a rich source of essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. Seaweeds also contain unique compounds, including polysaccharides, proteins, and bioactive compounds, which have potential health benefits and functional properties. To ensure the sustainable and responsible use of seaweed genetic resources, it is important to have proper management and conservation strategies in place. The genetic resources of commercially important seaweeds are studied and utilized by researchers and scientists to understand the genetic basis of important traits, develop breeding programs for seaweed improvement, and develop new varieties through selective breeding or genetic engineering techniques.
