Seaweeds as Growth Promoter and Crop Protectant: Modern Agriculture Application

In crop production and agriculture fields the use of seaweed based bio-products has been gaining momentum because of their unique bioactive components and effects. The seaweeds have phyto-stimulatory properties that increased plant growth and yield in several important crop plants because seaweed is rich in micro and macronutrients, humic acids and phytohormones and it enhances soil fertility. Also seaweed fertilizer contains polysaccharides, proteins and fatty acids which improve the moisture and nutrient retention of soil. The current review discusses seaweeds as growth promoter and crop protectant in the Agriculture. The review further analyses the potential value of seaweed extracts in integrated crop management systems towards sustainable crop production.
