Evaluating Generative AI Tools for Visual Asset Creation - An Educational Approach

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is an emerging technology that continues to interrupt the status quo in different domains. This evolution has introduced many tools that are of value for several sectors, one of which is the field of visual asset creation. Creative visual assets are valuable resources and a source of income for many professionals currently. These tools are also desirable and required for the success of various projects and products. Naturally, these tools would require a set of objective and subjective metrics to be compared. Scientific articles about this technology observed different topics of concern. This paper derives a set of evaluation metrics, some, from the aforementioned topics of concern. These metrics were then applied to 5 different GenAI technologies to advise future directions. The results disclosed here reinforce the need for meaningful human control and the development of an evaluation system integrated with such adaptive models.
