Probiotics in Oral Health: Halitosis, Dental Caries, and Periodontitis
摘要
The mouth has a role in food and water intake and speech. The salivary glands produce saliva which moistens food, and the salivary enzymes break down the starch. Oral cavity and the associated microbes are the first sites of interaction with gulped elements, beverages, soft drinks, and smoking. The interaction affects health directly by altering microbial metabolic activities. It is necessary for the healthcare providers to understand the effects of concomitant consequences. Despite the fact that the role of oral microbiota is not fully known, there is interest in utilizing microorganisms for oral health including dental care. Probiotics have shown their importance in oral health.
