Probiotics in Allergy Prevention
摘要
A well-balanced immune system is pivotal to maintain health and protect from infectious and noninfectious diseases. Excessive functioning of the immune system causes autoimmune diseases and allergic reactions. The need to avert allergic diseases has never been so crucial. The surge of allergic reactions, asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema and atopic dermatitis, and food allergy during recent decades has added to the already existing load of allergic diseases. Probiotics might offer relief from allergic reactions such as inflammation, atopic eczema, cow milk protein allergy, allergic colitis, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Evidence from model animals and clinical trials suggest that some probiotics alleviate or reduce inflammation and allergic reactions; hence, their use in humans is an emerging area of clinical importance.
