Prediction of Gut Microbiome-Host Interaction

Prokaryote-eukaryote symbiosis spans throughout living kingdom. Human, animals, and microorganisms have co-evolved in a symbiotic relation comprising an intricate interplay. By virtue of their interaction with host, the microbes implicate in various functions and overall state of well-being. Under certain adverse situations, the dwelling microbiota cause chronic metabolic and inflammatory bowel diseases and cancer, all characterized by interruption of concerned microbial communities. Therefore, we need to study the microbial role and mechanisms in health and diseases. Computational models have been designed to predict micro-microbe and host-microbe interactions and impact on host. Interaction predictions provide hypothesis-generating platforms, functional annotation of commensal microbiota, and detection of biochemical signals before clinical manifestation of the disease.
