Synthetic Biology Toolbox: Developing Microbial Therapeutics

The availability of methods to create artificial life or manipulate the living cells has ushered in a new era in life sciences. Indeed, redesigning the microorganisms and cells is one of the fundamental accomplishments of synthetic biology. Making of genes, subcellular components with different dimensions, biochemical and material properties are the renarkable achievements of modern synthetic biology. As a new class of therapeutics, the synthesized microorganisms have raised hopes of diagnosing and curing the diseases. Synthetic biology has a broad range of applications in improving human and animal health, disease diagnosis, vaccines, and pharmaceuticals.
