Anti-parasitic Effects of Probiotics
摘要
Parasites cause anemia, infections, and solemn health complications. Parasitic protozoa and intestinal parasites pose serious threat to humans in tropical, developing, and poor countries. Like pathogenic microorganisms, many parasites have developed resistance to commonly used anti-parasitic drugs. Hence, there is a need to develop alternative strategies to prevent or reduce health threats caused by parasites. Probiotic modulation of gut microbiota against parasites is a prospective yet principally unexplored field. This chapter intends to draw attention of scientific communities to investigate new probiotics and their mechanisms against parasitic infections.
