Probiotics Against Pulmonary Diseases
摘要
The lungs previously thought to be sterile organs possess a unique functional microbiome which is affected by age, genetics, and signals from the environment and intestine. A healthy lung microbiome builds up adequate immunity and serves as barrier against infectious and non-infectious diseases. Understanding of respiratory immune system has broadened our acquaintance with respiratory system microorganisms and their interaction with the other microbial niches in the body. Microbial therapy has manifold roles to boost gut and respiratory health through gut-pulmonary axis.
