摘要

Cancer, a multifactorial pathology, is among the leading causes of barrier to life expectancy and death. The intestinal microbiota maintains a balanced homeostasis, detoxifies, and eliminates the inadvertently consumed carcinogens, genotoxicants, and mutagens. Under aberrant situations, due to their immunomodulatory activities, few intestinal microorganisms play a role in worsening of carcinogenesis. Probiotics alter inflammatory cytokines which prevent carcinogenesis. Anticancer probiotic metabolites and heat-killed probiotics coupled with radiation eliminate certain cancer cells. Gut microbiome modulation by probiotics and probiotic metabolites might be the novel strategies to prevent inflammation leading to commencement of cancer.
