Smart Health Revolution: Exploring Artificial Intelligence of Internet of Medical Things
摘要
The more disruptive technologies evolve, for example, machine learning (ML), electronic health records (EHRs), artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoTs), big data, and blockchain, the more sustainable smart healthcare (SHC) such as patient wearables, devices, and applications are expedited, even though they are affected by cyber-related threats. The convergence of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and AI resulted in the Artificial Intelligence of the Internet of Medical Things (AIoMT) paradigm. AIoMT application in smart healthcare has shown tremendous potential, for example, its ability to alleviate the massive burden in healthcare caused by medical staff shortages, health challenges brought by the rise in aging populations, the steady rise in chronic diseases, and emerging global health pandemics like COVID-19. The evolving nature of AIoMTs and their ability to process massive volumes of patient data exposed a vulnerability to cyber-related attacks. The chapter further proposes a model to ensure a secure AIoMT ecosystem since the medical endpoint devices (MePD) make data processing using AI systems available to the medical midpoint devices (MiPD) (fog, mist, or edge) from the user through the AIoMT Cloud, besides blockchain and data encryption frameworks. Finally, patients’ and doctors’ involvement during model development will increase trust, acceptance, and collaboration.
