Wearable Devices—A New Dimension in Healthcare
摘要
Devices that are worn by individuals are referred to as wearable devices. Personalized diagnosis and monitoring can be assisted by medical wearables. Wearable technology's promise to support healthcare has been acknowledged by healthcare systems worldwide. Wearables extend beyond just being used for specialized medical equipment by patients. The potential of wearable health technologies for consumers who prioritize their health has been explored by Apple and other notable technology corporations. Wearable health technologies have made progress, but research on wearables and empowerment is still in its infancy. The goal of this chapter was to list, condense, and encapsulate the existing information. The main focus is on how wearable health technology can motivate individuals to take more responsibility for their own health. This chapter also provides instructions on how to set up a wristwatch to track vital signs. The chapter discusses potential obstacles to the use of wearable technology, the role of providers, the benefits of encouraging wearable use, and the ways in which wearable technology could influence behavior. Wearables have been found to be empowering people by aiding in self-monitoring, behavior modification, and diagnosis, according to numerous research findings. In addition, the short-term investment should be increased to improve staff skills, especially in the field of data analysis, improving device accuracy and removing barriers to use are some of the factors that will lead to greater wearable adoption and engagement. Promoting and supporting providers are other factors that can help promote uptake. Due to technological advancements, wearable technology has recently become a reality, which necessitates more research to determine how well wearables can empower individuals. Using this technology, clinics in villages or remote locations can communicate the health conditions of their patients to city hospitals. If a patient's health falls outside the expected range, the IoT system will let the clinician know. The medical staff can process and evaluate their current state by processing information about patients’ ailments through a gateway. The prototype produced is a testament to the effectiveness of the system, as it is highly suitable for healthcare monitoring.
