Education, Training, and Competence in Laboratory Animal Science
摘要
This chapter explores the concepts of education, training, and competence, particularly within the context of Laboratory Animal Science (LAS). Education and training encompass the acquisition of knowledge and skills through formal or informal means, while competence extends beyond knowledge and skills to include personal qualities and the ability to achieve desired outcomes. LAS competence standards emphasize adherence to the principles of the 3Rs and require advanced knowledge, skills, and professional conduct. The evolution and standards of LAS competence regulations, methods for knowledge acquisition and assessment, practical skill development, supervision duration, and continuous professional development are discussed. Future directions involve leveraging technology, global collaboration, and promoting non-technical and professional skills to enhance LAS standards.
