Environmental Footprint, Toxicity, and Life Cycle Assessment Within the Vegan Leather Industry

We have understood the environmental footprints of conventional leather products and the potential issues arising from the supply chain of conventional leather in the previous chapter. Even an unconventional product, be it any product, including vegan leather, cannot be produced without environmental impacts. However, these unconventional, sustainable alternatives can produce lesser impacts on the environment on a comparative scale. The degree of magnitude varies, and it will be lower in the case of these products. In this chapter, the environmental footprint and toxicity of vegan leather products and the life cycle assessment studies done within the vegan leather industry are discussed in detail.
