Sustainable Development Goal Seven (7): The Case of Affordable and Renewable Clean Energy in Uganda
摘要
Purpose: In today’s rapid climate change in a developing world, the uses of reliable, affordable, and sustainable clean energy become crucial in the everyday life of the people of Uganda and beyond. The study intends to explore the socio-economic impacts of inadequate access to clean and affordable energy in Uganda. This could include examining the implications for education, healthcare, livelihoods, and overall quality of life, particularly among marginalized and underserved communities. Design/Methodology/Approach: This paper adopts an exploratory research method to investigate the sustainable and affordable use of renewable energy in Uganda. Findings: The findings reveal that SDG 7 will facilitate economic growth, improve energy technology which is essential for livelihood, suitable energy for cooking, lighting, and powering appliances, impact positively the GDP, and helps mitigate carbon emissions thereby helping the Ugandan Government to reduce poverty and further confront rural electricity challenges in the country. Practical Implications: The paper concluded that equitable access to affordable clean energy is vital to infrastructural development, improving healthcare facilities, securing food security, generating more job opportunities, creating an inclusive community in the country, and improving transportation systems. Social Implications: SGD 7 is a pathway to transform the world through sustainable development for improved energy, critical for improving sound health and access to clean technology for economic growth, social security, improved livelihood, and a better environment. This is suitable for renewable energy consumption aimed at lighting, powering houses and appliances, cooking, and regional partnership for energy connectivity. Originality and Value: This paper presents a unique argument based on the existing body of knowledge, expert opinion and addresses the findings on sustainable clean energy becoming crucial in the everyday life of the people of Uganda and beyond.
