Adverse Skin and Systemic Reactions to Antidiabetic Treatments
摘要
The different forms of diabetes mellitus affect millions of people worldwide. Depending on the types they suffer, patients are treated by insulins or by different antidiabetic drugs with various actions on glucose metabolism. As a result of recent developments, diabetic patients may be provided with new devices (e.g., glucose sensor, insulin pump) that increase compliance and therapeutic adherence. Just like any drugs, antidiabetics, as well as the supplementary instruments, may be able to provoke the formation of hypersensitivity reactions or other adverse events; however, fortunately such occasions occur rarely. The chapter introduces the most common hypersensitivity reactions to different type of antidiabetic drugs or complementary devices.
