摘要

Development of blisters in patients with diabetes is a rare but possible clinical occurrence. Importantly, skin blistering in elderly patients might occur due to a plethora of reasons; therefore it is important for diabetic patients to accurately differentiate between blisters occurring as a sequela of diabetes and coincidently. This correct differentiation bears also relevant diagnostic and therapeutic consequences. The two single diseases that have a direct link with diabetes and/or its therapeutic management are diabetic blisters (also called bullosis diabeticorum) and the autoimmune blistering disease bullous pemphigoid.
