Guidelines for Thyroid Ablation

Medical guidelines consist of the latest evidence-based research and specific experts’ consensus on a specific subject in healthcare, forming concise statements or recommendations for a clinical physician to follow. In the last decades, many guidelines regarding thyroid radiofrequency ablation (RFA) have been presented, for both benign nodules and malignancies. The suggested indications, techniques, efficacy, follow-up strategy, and complications are discussed. In this chapter, representative national guidelines or consensus worldwide are introduced and collected through December 2022. It is important to recognize that a guideline is not the only rule. Specific adjustments are made according to each patient’s situation, regional practices, and the capacity of local medical institutions.
