Decision-Making in the Boardroom

  • Mijntje Lückerath-Rovers

摘要

Directors’ decision-making processes are often scrutinised for their perceived ‘limited view’, suggesting a disconnection from the broader context of their actions. This critique is encapsulated in questions like ‘What world are they living in?’ or ‘Are they out of touch with reality?’, pointing to a gap between boardroom decisions and societal expectations. Such criticism becomes especially pronounced when decisions, deemed reasonable within the confines of the boardroom, spark public outcry for seeming disconnected or morally short-sighted. To mitigate these challenges, directors should actively broaden their decision-making perspective. This includes seeking diverse perspectives and integrating feedback from a wide array of stakeholders, thereby ensuring a more inclusive consideration of the potential impacts of their decisions.
