摘要
Villa Majo is a neoclassical house. It stands on a small plateau at the beginning of Via dell’Infrascata, the old name of the current Via Salvator Rosa. A road that once from the Vomero hill went down to the centre of Naples. Built at the end of the eighteenth century by Marchese Genzano, despite neglect and speculation, of the former beauty of the villa there still survive some flat columns surmounted by capitals and a small garden that boasts an enchanting little temple surrounded by trees. From the windows you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the gulf of Naples and Vesuvius. Now broken up into many apartments, the new occupants are perhaps unaware that within its walls Gaetano Donizetti, the native of Bergamo and the “most Neapolitan of musicians” lived and composed Lucia di Lammermoor.
