Caccioppoli has been alone for some time now in the Palazzo Cellammare apartment where at the time he was living there with Sara he already liked to imagine it was populated by ghosts. Even the lovely walks with the very young Wanda have become fewer. He continues to live his usual life. Every day he walks to the university, on Saturdays and Sundays he enlivens the cinema club, then dines with a few friends at Vini e Cucina run by Dolores, a faithful and protective friend more than a simple host, or at da Umberto where, to order fresh fish, he jokes with the waiters: “How many corpses do you have in the fridge?” He enjoys himself sometimes, surprising the customers, by singing French songs that he knows by heart. The women in his life are present, but these are increasingly fleeting encounters.
