Women like Caccioppoli. He is charming, witty, and his reputation as a genius flatters the young women who seek his company. After Sara’s departure he had many women, but none managed to take his wife’s place. Despite his great success, his relationships with the opposite sex are difficult, verging on conflictual. Maybe that’s why there is whispered talk of his homosexuality.
