Role of IoT Smart Waste Management in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals
摘要
This paper presents the importance of IoT smart waste management in achieving sustainable development goals. With urbanization, the production of waste increases. Therefore, the IoT-based waste management system makes waste management in metropolitan cities become more efficient. This paper provides the advantages and disadvantages of social, economic, and environmental sustainability. This established system targets enhancing waste collection, disposal, and recycling potency through real-time monitoring and alerts. It's based on ultrasonic-level sensors and various gas sensors that automatically sense hazardous gases and the maximum waste limit. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 13 (Climate Action), this IoT guide waste management substructure champions innovation, sustainable urban development, efficient resource utilization, and environmental preservation. Despite its well-known advantages in optimizing waste handling and encouraging economic growth, concerns around data security, initial investment burdens, and thoroughness hurdles remain significant.
