Design and Implementation of a Monitoring System for Ultraviolet Index, Temperature, Relative Humidity and Atmospheric Pressure

A monitoring system was implemented in Juliaca to measure ultraviolet (UV) radiation, temperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure, due to the harmful effects of UV solar radiation on human health, causing premature aging, allergies, and risks of skin cancer and cataracts. The project aims to develop an effective monitoring system to record these parameters in real-time and provide a climatic history for studies and forecasts. The system was designed and implemented using commercial sensors for the measurements. By comparing the data obtained with the Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus weather station, a high correlation (correlation coefficient of 0.99) was demonstrated, validating the reliability and accuracy of the data provided by the monitoring system. This system offers precise measurements in the range of interest, and its success provides information about the climate in Juliaca. Accurate data is essential for climate analysis, environmental studies, and forecasts, and the climatological history obtained allows for preventive measures against UV radiation in public health. Likewise, it establishes a solid foundation for future research and applications in monitoring and understanding the climate in Juliaca, advancing climate research, and contributing to public health protection by providing crucial information for decision-making and raising awareness about the risks associated with UV radiation.
