Challenges and Status of the Introduction of e-Invoices in Healthcare: An Explorative Study from Switzerland

This study investigates the perceptions of both IT and healthcare professionals in Switzerland regarding the adoption of electronic invoicing (e-Invoices) in the healthcare sector. It examines the challenges, benefits, and alignment of IT and business strategies related to e-invoicing implementations. The research utilizes a literature review and structured questionnaires to gather insights from both areas. Key findings indicate contrasting views on e-invoicing: IT professionals prioritize robust security measures, such as encryption, to protect patient data. Meanwhile, healthcare professionals discuss the practical aspects of implementing e-invoices and varying readiness for future technologies, such as electronic patient records (EPR). This study highlights the complexities of digital integration in healthcare, emphasizing diverse security perceptions and implementation practices. The study concludes that a comprehensive approach is necessary for the successful implementation of e-invoicing in healthcare, addressing both technological advancements and organizational dynamics.
