Worker Issues During the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Study of the Implications in Malaysia

The global pandemic of COVID-19 has changed the norms of life and has had a profound impact on one’s career and work. It is also the effect of the closure of various employment sectors while the Movement Control Order (MCO) is implemented. Various issues and problems arise which are very worrying and tremendously affect families, society, and the country. Even so, it does not mean that humans only accept the challenges faced without making any changes and efforts to change them. This is because COVID-19 forces society to change with the times. This is a qualitative study using the method of analyzing documents, journals, and related articles. Both primary and secondary data are used, collected through the library-based approach, books, legal documents, and articles from journals and online resources. Both data are examined and interpreted using the content analysis approach. The article will look at the issues that have arisen in the employment sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of work in human-life balance as well as the steps that have and can be taken by relevant parties to resolve issues or problems that have befallen workers. The research found that changes need to be made so that society, especially the employment sector, can adapt to the challenges that exist. Each party must play a role whether it is an individual, family, community, or government. With the recovery plan implemented, it is hoped that it will be a factor in reducing the impact and pressure on the parties involved, especially the workers.
